Ensure the beauty of the Bluegrass endures.
Planned giving creates a legacy honoring our Bluegrass region’s unique landscape. Farms are the factory floor of our local economy, heritage, and traditions – your gift will help to permanently protect the Bluegrass, one farm at a time.
A legacy is both personal and lasting, so we like to discuss your goals, in confidence, to ensure that your wishes are carried out and upheld, to the very best of our ability, in perpetuity. Please make sure to talk to your advisors about the best way to plan for your giving.
Gifts through your will
Making a planned gift through your will creates a legacy honoring our Bluegrass region’s unique landscape. You can choose to give specific assets, a portion of your estate, or your residual estate after payment of other bequests.
Gifts from retirement assets
You can name Bluegrass Land Conservancy as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other qualified plan by designating Bluegrass Land Conservancy to receive all or a portion of the balance of your plan through your plan administrator. The balance in your plan passes to Bluegrass Land Conservancy after your death. This potentially avoids the double taxation retirement savings plans may face when designated to heirs, and you may continue taking regular lifetime withdrawals.
Other Planned Gifts Include:
- Charitable Gift Annuity
- Charitable Lead Trust
- Charitable Remainder Trust
- Life Insurance
- Life Estate
- Real Estate as a bequest
- Retirement Assets

Why I Care
“I cannot imagine a time when there is no place for horses, for wildlife, for the sounds of the spring that has always flowed from the hillside below the old log house.”
