18th Annual Farmland Conservation Celebration & Auction
Thank you to event co-hosts Jennie & Peek Garlington III and Janie & Austin Musselman, our sponsors, and guests for celebrating more than 27,000 acres of permanently protected Bluegrass land. The 18th Annual Farmland Conservation Celebration and Auction was held Wednesday, April 18th. The evening featured local food and festive cocktails – plus live and silent auction items unique to our celebration.
In December 2016, Bluegrass Conservancy, based in Lexington, merged with Limestone Land Trust, in Louisville, to create the largest regional, accredited land trust in Kentucky. Now Bluegrass Land Conservancy, the newly expanded service area spans the state’s two most populated metropolitan areas and covers the very best farmland in the region with 27,033 acres of natural and cultural resources already protected. This merger is a bold move to protect the Bluegrass Region for current and future generations, with a focus on prime farmland soils, scenic open space, water resources, natural areas. rural heritage, and, of course, agricultural viability.
Proceeds from the event, which continues to be Bluegrass Land Conservancy’s primary fundraiser, are critical in our ability to assist local families across the Bluegrass region conserve their land.
